Objective of Wage Compensation Scheme for Pregnant Women of Tea Garden Areas
To provide better health and nutrition to pregnant women in tea garden areas.
To offer financial support so pregnant women can take adequate rest and care for themselves and their unborn babies without compromising their family’s livelihood.
To incentivize uptake of maternal health services such as antenatal care and institutional delivery.
Features of Wage Compensation Scheme for Pregnant Women of Tea Garden Areas
Cash benefit of ₹15,000 (recently updated from ₹12,000) paid in four installments:
1st Installment: ₹2,000 at registration within the 1st trimester.
2nd Installment: ₹4,000 during the 6th month of pregnancy.
3rd Installment: ₹3,000 at the time of institutional delivery in government health facilities.
4th Installment: ₹3,000 six weeks post-delivery.
Payment is made via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the beneficiary’s bank account.
The scheme covers all pregnant women residing in tea garden areas regardless of employment status (temporary, permanent, or non-worker).
Two-child norm applies: benefits are available only up to the second child.
Beneficiaries must be 18 years or older.
Online application and district-level validation system for registration and payment processing.
The scheme is linked with initiatives like Project MAAdol to facilitate bank account opening and document collection for beneficiaries.

Pregnant women residing in Assam’s tea garden areas.
Includes temporary workers, permanent workers, and non-workers.
Must be 18 years or older.
Eligible only for up to two children due to the state’s two-child policy

Objective of The Assam Tea Garden Workers’ Financial Assistance Scheme
To provide direct financial support to tea garden workers in Assam as a welfare gesture and to commemorate 200 years of Assam’s tea industry.
Fulfills a promise made in the state budget for 2025–26.
Features of The Assam Tea Garden Workers’ Financial Assistance Scheme
One-time direct financial assistance of ₹5,000 per eligible tea garden worker.
- Grant Amounts:
– Eye Diseases: ₹5,000
– TB/Eye Cataract: ₹10,000
– Accidents: ₹15,000
– Major Diseases (Cancer): ₹50,000
– Heart Diseases/Strokes: ₹75,000 The scheme targets approximately 7 lakh tea garden workers across Assam.
Total budget allocation: ₹342 crore earmarked for the scheme in 2025–26.
Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): Amount will be transferred directly to the verified bank accounts of eligible workers.
Verification process:
Must be a permanent resident of Assam
Must be currently employed as a tea garden worker
Must have a bank account linked with Aadhaar.
Implementation: Involves form submission, digital uploading, and direct payment after verification.
