Orunodoi Scheme

Initial selection and implementation: Began from August 17, 2020.
Major rollout: December 1, 2020, covering over 22 lakh families.
Objective of Orunodoi Scheme
Primary goal: Poverty eradication and socio-economic inclusion of financially vulnerable families through sustained financial assistance.
Empowerment of women: Directly transfer financial aid to women, recognizing them as primary caretakers.
Enhance living standards: Enable poor households to afford basic needs such as food, medicine, and nutrition.
Features of Scheme
Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): Monthly financial assistance is sent directly to the nominated woman’s bank account in each eligible family.
Financial assistance amount: Initially ₹830 per month, later increased to ₹1,000, and most recently to ₹1,250 per month for each beneficiary woman.
Coverage: Over 24 lakh poor households targeted; new phases (e.g., Orunodoi 3.0) aim to add 12 lakh more beneficiaries.
Breakdown of support:
₹400/month for medicines
₹200/month as a 50% subsidy for 4 kg pulses
₹80/month as a 50% subsidy for 4 kg sugar
₹150/month for essential fruits and vegetables
Eligibility selection: Lists prepared at local government levels (Gaon Panchayat, Village Council, Urban Local Body) based on strict eligibility criteria.
Community involvement: Regular constituency-level meetings to ensure transparency and participation.
Beneficiaries of the Scheme
Primary beneficiaries: Women from poor households (one per family), as financial aid is credited to their accounts.
Target group: Families below the poverty line, with annual income less than ₹2 lakhs.
Expansion: Special efforts to include families without ration cards and those newly identified as eligible.
Scale: Over 22 lakh families initially, with plans to reach all BPL families in Assam

Launched on: 2nd October 2018, by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal, coinciding with the 149th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Objective of Swahid Kushal Konwar Sarbajanin Briddha Pension Achoni
Primary objective: To provide regular, dignified financial assistance to senior citizens of Assam, ensuring their economic security and streamlining the payment of old-age pensions through a direct and transparent mechanism.
Features of Swahid Kushal Konwar Sarbajanin Briddha Pension Achoni
Monthly pension: ₹250 per month, paid via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) directly into the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-linked bank account.
Timely payment: Pension is credited on the first day of every month.
Coverage: Targets 15,000–20,000 senior citizens in every constituency; over 12.5 lakh beneficiaries have been covered as of 2021.
Administered by: Department of Panchayat & Rural Development, Government of Assam.
Simple application: Application forms are available at local government offices (Gaon Panchayat, Development Block, Municipal Board, etc.) and require basic documents (Aadhaar, proof of age, domicile, bank details).
No need for Finance Department approval: Fund release is now directly sanctioned by the senior-most secretary of the department, ensuring faster disbursal.
Beneficiaries of Swahid Kushal Konwar Sarbajanin Briddha Pension Achoni
Eligibility:
Must be a resident of Assam.
Must be 60 years of age or above.
Exclusions:
Already receiving benefits from any other government pension scheme.
Parents whose children are employed with the government.
Individuals who are income taxpayers with annual income above ₹2,50,000
Death Benefit Scheme
Objective of Death Benefit Scheme
The primary objective is to provide financial assistance to the nominees or dependents of registered construction workers in Assam in the event of the worker’s death, either occurring naturally or caused by an accident at work.
Features of Death Benefit Scheme
Implemented by: Assam Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (ABOCWWB), Labour Welfare Department, Government of Assam.
Benefits:
₹50,000 to nominees/dependents in case of a registered worker’s natural death during the course of employment.
₹3,00,000 to nominees/dependents in case of accidental death occurring during the course of employment.
Payment is made as a one-time, lump sum financial assistance to the eligible family members.
The benefit amount is disbursed only if the deceased was an active, registered construction worker at the time of death.
Beneficiaries of Death Benefit Scheme
Nominees/dependents of a deceased registered construction worker in Assam.
The deceased must:
Be permanently resident in Assam.
Have worked in building and other construction activities.
Be registered and an active member of the Assam Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board at the time of death.
Only those nominated or dependent family members, as declared by the deceased worker, are eligible
